A skid loader, skid-steer loader, SSLs or skidsteer is a small, rigid-frame, engine-powered machine with lift arms that can attach to a wide variety of buckets and other labor-saving tools or attachments.
Bobcats have long been used to push materials from one location to another, carry materials around in their bucket, and load materials into trucks or trailers. One of the most useful features of these loaders is their maneuverability.
For steering the machine, there are control arms on the right and the left. The right arm control moves the right tires. The left arm control moves the left tires. Use both left and right arm controls together at the same time to move the machine forward and backward.
The wheels on a skid steer typically have no steering mechanism, they are in a fixed, straight line relative to the body of the machine. By turning the left and right wheel pairs at different speeds, the machine turns by skidding, or dragging its wheels across the ground.
