A basic run down of my approach as a guitar tutor:

For Beginner guitarists interested in learning site reading and music theory, I've found that the book - Essential Elements for Guitar - is a great structure to get anyone started especially children just starting out. It guides the student and the teacher towards achieving the goals within the book. It is also a great way to prepare anyone who may be interested in registering to study guitar and music theory through the ABRSM.

I also have a specialized course which is designed to provide the needed skills and knowledge to become a studio recording/session guitarist.

There is an enormous amount of information within the course I provide, and can be too much for students not ready to take the step to become professional guitarists, just yet.

Therefore, I find teaching your favorite songs provides a great foundation for you to learn guitar technique and theory in a fresh easy practical way, It doesn't matter if you're just starting out or already performing at an advanced level.

The best way to grow as a guitarist is keeping the passion alive. So if you have a strong desire to learn more theory then that's the direction we will go. If you're really excited to learn riffs and improvisation (Making up solos on the spot) then we will go in that direction.

My teaching style has been influenced by several guitar teachers I have learned from and been inspired by. Learning from and teaching the guitar styles of blues, funk, jazz, classical, pop, rock and metal I am an all rounder guitar teacher.

Personally, I find great joy in bettering myself, as a guitar tutor and hope to pass over the knowledge I have gained efficiently and effectively.
