We are seeking a compassionate, reliable companion and caregivers for people who are high-functioning autistic and experiences periods of emotional distress. <br /> The role is primarily supportive and relational rather than intensive clinical care. Most days are calm and structured, with occasional periods where emotional reassurance, grounding, and steady companionship are needed.<br /> Key Responsibilities<br /> Provide calm, respectful companionship and emotional support<br /> Assist with routine structure and reminders pills <br /> Support de-escalation and calming during periods of distress<br /> Monitor wellbeing, including epilepsy awareness (seizures are infrequent)<br /> Offer overnight support when required, including occasional house-sitting<br /> Communicate effectively with family and healthcare professionals<br /> Build a trusting, long-term relationship as part of the care team<br /> About the individual<br /> High-functioning autistic adult<br /> Experiences emotional distress and anxiety<br /> Has epilepsy (infrequent seizures)<br /> Struggles at times with pills adherence and substance-use challenges<br /> Not dangerous or aggressive<br /> Responds best to calm, patient, non-judgmental support<br /> Ideal Candidate<br /> Background in nursing, mental health, caregiving, or support work<br /> Experience with autism, mental health, or neurodivergent adults preferred<br /> Calm, emotionally grounded, and compassionate<br /> Reliable, patient, and able to provide steady reassurance<br /> Comfortable working independently within a family environment<br /> A male caregiver is preferred for management and support dynamics<br /> What We Offer<br /> A comfortable, respectful home environment<br /> Flexible hours tailored to availability and need<br /> Market-related pay based on experience<br /> Opportunity to make a meaningful, long-term impact<br /> Supportive family committed to collaborative care<br /> Our Approach<br /> We believe in dignity, compassion, and relationship-based care.
